Puppy Tales

Once upon a time, in the Land of OZ (about 40 miles south of Kansas City), there lived a lonely couple. Their family had grown up and moved away. Susie Q looked at her husband and said "I'm not done with my family." (Her nurturing instincts were raging). Bernard, a little bewildered, said, "Again?". The Dumcums love of cocker spaniel breed as family pets through the years, inspired the 1997 establishment of:

The Dumcums gave much thought to the design of the kennels:

  • Spacious, easy to clean canine living
  • Located in a wholesome country setting
  • Loving caregivers
  • ACA registration
  • State of Kansas retail breeders license
  • Healthy, happy puppies that grew into good moms and dads
  • Helping homes for all sizes of litters
  • Heating and air conditioning for any Kansas weather

    Life was good!


    		• Susie Q, once again declared, "I'm not done with my family." Bernard was a little dog tired after building, equipping, purchasing puppies and setting up with newly arriving litters. He just smiled when all three Dumcum children got married in 2000 & 2001. Nurturing of a different nature.

    Life was good!

    In 2002 the Dumcums became new grandparents. Those babies just kept on arriving and as of 2006, Susie Q and Bernie bragged of SIX of the most beautiful, intelligent, well trained and groomed GRANDCHILDREN!

    Life was good!

    When times quieted down a bit, Susie decided to diversify. The Dumcums began raising miniature and eventually toy poodles. They were quite a hit with their retail clients. Cuties and different from the cocker spaniels, they began shipping puppies to customers all over the United States.

    Life was good!

    As the voices of Susie Q's kennel grew stronger and the time became more scarce, Susie Q decided to retire from teaching elementary school after 22 enjoyable years. She became a full time puppy care taker and loved it. Of course she didn't mind the extra time with those grandchildren too. Bernie thought the nurturing was probably satisfied.

    Life was good!

    THINK Again.....Susie began raising Yorkshire terriers. What little darlings they were and so totally different from the cocker and poodles and cockapoos. OH MY!!!! Maybe yorkiepoos too!

    Life was good!

    Susie Q has also enjoyed the popularity of the designer puppies- cockapoos, snoodles, yorkipoos. OH MY!!

    Bernie had given up hope that maybe the kennel occupancy had become complete.......Good thing, because Susie also added schnauzers to the voices of her kennel chorus. Little bearded barkers.....so cute!!

    Life was good!

    As of 2007, the last known new breed to make residence at Susie Q's were the King Charles Cavaliers. Queen Claudine and King Clyde have a new litter of princesses.
